Manhattan Fish Market Review

26th July 2013,

Hi everyone! Its my day off after my graduation and I seriously am pissed. For starters, my certificate is not out yet, so I couldn't legalise it yet in the department of Education. therefore I need to come back to Malaysia to legalise it around December.

Sadly, that's not the reason I'm fuwious. (Anyone watched BBT? Kripky's speech is so adorable!) I'm fuwious because of a certain restaurant called Manhattan Fish Market.

Instead of going to Putrajaya to legalise our 'cough cough' documents, we (as in me and Connie <3 ) head to Alamanda shopping mall for lunch and my search for Revlon Colourstay.

We enter hoping for lunch, we ordered the 'Set of the Year' with a Revive Tropical Breeze and a Revive Gummy Bear as beverage.

In this set are:
  • One Manhattan Flaming Seafood Platter,
  • 1 Garlic Herb Mussels,
  • 2 Drinks (With the choice of Revive Coca Cola/ Revive Gummy Bear/ Revive Tropical Breeze)

All for RM 53.90
(Meaning RM 26.95 per person!)

Let me give a spoiler, the appetisers awesome! <3 <3 <3 The Gummy Bear is super cute, and freshening! Sadly, the food sucks.

What? The food sucks you say?

Yes. My platter was a disaster!!! Let me describe my worst RM 30 per person meal.

The rice:
  • Hard,
  • Brittle,
  • It tastes weird
  • It frickin smells like cheap rice,
  • Its cold, not butter soft and snaps like cheap rice.

Fish:
  • Fish fillets are FTW babes!!!

Prawns:
  • Crunchy,
  • Chewy,
  • Cheapsome!!! Cheaply Awesome!

Squid & Clam:
  • Mushy,
  • Soft (in a way that makes you go EWW after a few pieces.

Vegetables:
  • Okay. As in just OK.

French Fries:
  • Well, more like not crunchy.

The Saving Grace was in the Appetizers! At least not all of the RM 30 went wasted!

Appetizer:
  • Mussels are FTW

Drink:
  • Gummy bear; Was OK

and yet still!!! Can things get so ridongkulous?

Service:
  • Two staffs (not waiters) didn't understand when I say: "Can you reheat the food please?" Like WTF?

Rate:  2/5 (and yes, the Mussel Appetizers saved the day from a 2 my friend would give.)

VERDICT: I wouldn't go to Manhattan Fish Market again for lunch. For a student like me, RM 30 is a big amount. In my place, a normal Mamak food costs approximately RM 6- 8 a dish. Okay, at least not in Alamanda branch again.

This wasn't my first time eating in MFM Alamanda. I went there few months prior for a lunch with my Boyfriend and the food was as bad. Damned it. I thought it was because we used a Groupon Food Coupon, so they gave us the more 'uglier' food. Turns out that it was like that all along.

If you think this is mean, my friend's review:

  • The rice smelt like flead rice
  • It was cold when it arrived on our table
  • The fries are mushy, soft and tasteless.
  • The squid was too salty but allowed to pass
  • The veggies were pale
  • The prawns were okay
  • and The Scallops were a saving grace.

So here are some pictures of the food. I still can feel that sucky rice every time I see it.

 Yes, it looked delicious... BUUUTTTTT...!!!!

LOOK! Dry! Sticky! ICKY! UGLIEE!!!!! #ChokeMFMAlamanda
